About Dr. Bahadori´s Leanness Program
My name is Babak Bahadori and I graduated from medical school in Graz Austria in 1993. I was assigned to the obesity task force of the University Hospital in the same year. Medical school prepares you for many surprises and the medical profession is perhaps the most complex of all, but I was amazed and overwhelmed by the amount of diseases caused by obesity. It became my life’s goal to find a long term solution to this obesity epidemic, that the WHO has called the biggest medical problem we are faced with today. After more than fourteen years practise my team and I are convinced that we have found that much illusive solution. As a young physician, I too recommended some of the numerous in diets of the day, eat the half method, the low fat method etc., etc. There was a noticeable weight loss at the beginning, but soon the pounds came back accompanied by many more. Diets simply do not work in the long run. |

Every day I am faced with the numerous diseases that are caused by being overweight; the problem is so big that it is crippling not only the sufferers but the health system in general. One day out of the blue the distinguished scientist, Mark McCarty, asked me to work on a review article about a weight reduction concept called the "Dr. Bahadori´s Leanness Program". I was very surprised to discover that this concept was developed by an old friend and fellow student, from the Grazer Medical University in Austria. My next step was to fly to Austria to meet my dear friend. |

About two years ago I was suddenly crippled by arthritis, I suppose my life style as a musician, publican and tour operator did not help, stress combined with obesity had taken its toll and I knew that what ever happens from here on in my whole future and health depended on the next move. It was in this darkest hour that I med Dr. Bahadori and I vividly remember standing in the hospital hallway on crutches, being miserable and depressed. Dr. Elisabeth Uitz the Rheumatologist in the hospital where I was admitted, made it clear that I must loose weight or face the consequences of my joints being affected causing a massive reduction in the quality of my life. Dr Bahadori asked me if I would consider translating his book "Dr. Bahadori´s Leanness Program", and I agreed. In a short time I put the crutches aside and using the seven step program regained my physical and mental health. I now go for hour long hikes in the mountains or cycle a hundred miles just for fun. In the meantime I have made diplomas in nutritional science, fitness and health management and have met and worked with many people, who you can read about in this book, they like me now know “it’s not your fate to be overweight” |
